Comet Hale-Bopp

Photo, March 28, 1997, was taken at 8:00PM PST near Pescadero, CA. The magnitude of the comet is near -1. Photo was taken with Fuji 400 film, exposure 5 min. The camera (70mm lens) was piggybacked on a telescope. The blue ionization tail shows several strands near the head of the comet. The double cluster in Perseus is visible in the upper left corner of the scan.
